In honour of Canada Day 2020, Canada’s only charitable organization solely dedicated to the welfare of grizzly bears launches a brand new podcast to celebrate the iconic symbol of Canadian wilderness.

VANCOUVER, JULY 1, 2020 -- The Grizzly Bear Foundation is launching a new podcast series, “GrizzCast.” Inspired by an iconic symbol of the North American wild - the grizzly bear - this narrative, fact-based show will take listeners across the grizzly bear’s range through a diversity of voices and stories of people working on the frontlines of conservation.

Hosted by Nicholas Scapillati, Grizzly Bear Foundation’s Executive Director, these podcasts merge compelling storytelling and top-notch research with interviews from the field to create an artistic piece of nonfiction. Each episode in the seven-episode season will run approximately 20 to 30 minutes long with a new episode to be released the first Monday of each month, beginning July 6.

“‘GrizzCast’ is about reimagining what it means to be a conservationist, stirring our imagination for how we can all make space for the wild in our lives,” says Nicholas Scapillati. “Acting as a tool to identify common ground, these podcasts will reframe our relationship with grizzly bears and the natural world–ultimately, inspiring listeners to ask questions about their own place in conservation.”

The first season kicks off Monday, July 6th with the release of “Healing Power of Grizzlies” with Doug Peacock, award-winning writer and author of the book Grizzly Years. The podcast series features Indigenous leaders, war correspondents, hunters turned conservationists, National Geographic writers, fishers and foragers; taking listeners on an intrepid journey from the remote subarctic of the Northern Yukon, to the Pacific coast of British Columbia, and into the world's first national park.

Episodes of “GrizzCast” will be available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Castbox, YouTube and iHeart Radio.
